Family, friends, and mentors of Taylor Haugen gathered in the Community Life Center at the Niceville First United Methodst Church on Wednesday, September 16 to dedicate a plaque to the Memorial Fund at the church in Taylor’s Name. Taylor’s life centered around the four “Fs” of Faith, Family, Friends, and Football and Niceville FUMC was home for his spiritual community.
Youth pastor, Billy Russell, often shares stories of Taylor. He spoke Wednesday that no one could have anticipated the need for us to gather to remember someone who had been so dear to us. Sr. Pastor Rurel Ausley spoke about the creation of the fund at the request of Taylor’s parents, Brian and Kathy Haugen, in the days following Taylor’s death. It was so fitting of the life Taylor lived. Pastor Ausley then spoke a dedication of the placque in a closing prayer.
The Taylor Haugen Memorial Fund supports youth based, special needs and special requirement activities. These activities are focused on, but not limited to, providing scholarships to under-served children to attend Christian Youth Retreats. Donations are received at Niceville FUMC, (850) 678-4411. www.fumcniceville.org
