Foundation Partners with EvoShield

In 2010, The Taylor Haugen Foundation partnered with the creators of EvoShield technology to raise awareness of the importance of safety equipment among teen athletes. One story touched their hearts specifically.

Denzel Applewhite, a close friend of T’s, suffered a minor internal injury last football season. Although his injury was minor and allowed him to play within a week, EvoShield heard his story and donated their safety equipment to Applewhite as a means to begin a partnership with the Taylor Haugen Foundation.

Established in 2006, EvoShield’s initial concept was to create comfortable sports equipment. For the past five years, their team has been designing a revolutionary material that is changing the world of sports protection. Evoshield’s 5 layer protection has been tested by a leading accredited sports science lab in the U.S., the same facility that tests the leading sports companies in the world.

The partnership between EvoShield and the Foundation is significant because Taylor Haugen, 15-year-old student athlete, passed away from injuries sustained during a football game in 2008. The Foundation is not only passionate about providing scholarships and funding to student athletes who exemplify T’s characteristics of leadership, athleticism, community service, academic and Christian faith, but they are also devoted to bringing awareness to sports safety equipment among teens and will strive to work as a proponent of EvoShield’s equipment through scholarships and grants.
