We would like to formally congratulate Niceville High School senior Eric Trapp and welcome him to the Taylor Haugen Foundation! Eric is a very well rounded student-athlete who is extremely passionate about Jesus and football, both of which were T’s top passions. His consistent grades, athleticism, dedication to community service, kind heart for others and faith in the Lord make him stand out. He demonstrates the perseverance to improve himself in all aspects of his life while enjoying God’s gifts to the fullest each and every day. We are so blessed to have him joining our Foundation family!
Eric Trapp is a Senior at Niceville High School and will graduate with a 4.3 Cumulative Weighted GPA. He has lived in Niceville his entire life and has become very involved in the community. Whether this be encouraging his teammates during a stressful game or leading his classmates in several extracurricular organizations, Eric clearly exemplifies a balance of T’s character traits: Faith, Community Service, Leadership, Academics, and Athletics.
While at Niceville High School, Eric served as the Class Vice President in 9th-11th grade and currently serves as the Student Government President. He has been an active member in both National Honor Society in 11th-12th grade as well as Hope Squad, a suicide provention organization, throughout his time at Niceville. His grades granted him the Anne T. Mitchell Award for Academic Achievement in 9th-12th grade, a prestigious award for Okaloosa County’s top senior scholars.
Eric plans to combine his love of helping others with his passion for sports by becoming an orthopedic surgeon working as the team doctor for a professional or college sports team. This is a journey he plans to manifest within the very first steps he takes in his freshman year of college. He plans to get involved academically with organizations to learn and grow through mentorship with those following similar paths and one day become a mentor for those in the same position.
Eric’s athleticism is another trait that makes him stand out. Being a Florida 7A All-State Honorable Mention his junior year, being a part of the Northwest Florida All-Area First Team his junior and senior year, and having the honor of playing in the Subway Senior All-Star Bowl are a few of his accomplishments. Football is not his only sport as he was also a part of the lacrosse team during 11th grade until he broke his collarbone. Showcasing a can-do attitude and always staying motivated, Eric has successfully represented Niceville High School in the most positive light both on and off the field.
As far as Eric’s faith, he has been a student ministry assistant leader for Crosspoint Church Youth Ministry during 9th-11th grade. He has a passion for sharing his testimony with others, and it showed in his words about overcoming adversity and never giving up on God when he was being presented the Taylor Haugen Trophy at the 2022 FCA Breakfast. His speech was a great reminder of T’s motto, “Don’t Quit. Never Give Up!”
